Name Change and Favourites Friday

As you can see my name has changed over on this website as well as my Facebook author page, quite exciting!  Visually not much has changed, though there are a few little things that transitioned when the name did (kudos if you spotted them!)

An exciting new feature prospect that I am looking forward to sharing with you is Favourites Friday!  On the first Friday of every month I intend to post recommendations for a particular genre.  Worried that I haven’t read enough that might interest you?  Fear not!  Not only do I have a multitude of reading friends and family members, but they are also willing to share their top picks with me (and subsequently you).  I look forward to starting off this showcase with the genre I find myself most asked for recommendations: Fantasy.

Circumstances

I’ve planned to keep my book reviews and news up to date on a regular basis, but sometimes life is hectic.  There has been a lot going on in my personal life, across the spectrum between good and bad.  Family members have passed away, and my husband and I have bought our first house.

Worry not, despite everything, I am still reading, writing, planning, plotting.

Expect to see some changes around here in the near future.  I’ve decided that I’ll drop the nom de’plume and go by Amy S. Brown, quite different from the Lizzy March some might have come familiar with.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

I am quite excited to tell you that I have finished the book Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith today, January 11th (I started it on the 8th).  This is my book club book of the month, so I won’t give too much away now, lest we discuss it later but I had to share a few of my feelings while they are fresh.

I absolutely love this book, and while there are some parts that irritated me, I find that this one very closely rivals the original Pride and Prejudice in my heart.

This is an absolutely amazing book, and since the movie is coming out next month, you’d definitely do well to read it now!

January’s Book of the Month (Book Club)

As stated in my end of the year tidings post, I’ve decided to start doing a book a month in the new year that I will share with you on the first, and around the end of the month we will discuss!  Since this is the first of January 2016 let’s begin!

The book of the month for January is

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

It’s no secret that I love Pride and Prejudice, and this novel is a retelling of a classic.  This novel is written by Seth Grahame-Smith, who also wrote Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.  Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, has been made into a movie, which I am quite looking forward to seeing.  It comes out on February 5th, and you can learn more about the movie here.  As always I would prefer to read the book first before seeing the movie or television show, though that doesn’t always end up being the case (see Austenland) I definitely intend to with this book.

P.S. The Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter movie is phenomenal.  Watch it!

End of the year tidings

My grand total of the year appears to be 55 novels read.  I feel as if this number should have been much higher, but in the end, so long as one is reading, that’s most important!

I have done all of the reviews for books I either missed in a massive update overhaul from the summer, and the three I’ve read this month, which means I can start the new year fresh!

Let me know if you’d like me to post about what book I’m reading before I start it, or a tentative list of books I might read.  Starting in January I’m going to start a bit of a book club, where I’ll state on the 1st the book I’ll be reading for the month, and at the end of the month we can discuss! 🙂

Updates Complete!

I completed my back log of books read on kindle without reviews posted, which means that I am free!  Moreso, I am free enough to say that this update marks a transition from my old website book reviewing blog to my this page, which will now be linked on my Facebook page! A special thanks to all of those who have helped to create this website’s look and feel, and who have given feedback on the layout and appearance while it was still predominantly under construction.

The book I am currently reading, that I began on Monday, October 5, 2015, is the continuation of Stieg Larsson’s Millenium Series, The Girl in the Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz.  I look forward to sharing my views on this once completed, and so far find it to have a fairly good set up.

If you have any books you would like to recommend or would like to comment on this website itself, please feel free to leave a message below.

Another great update coming

Some of you may be wondering why I continually fall behind on writing book reviews, especially if I am always reading.  I wonder this myself.  In this particular case, I wasn’t feeling the best and therefore became a stowaway with my kindle and a bag of cough drops.  Perhaps I should begin posting short snippets of what I’ve read so that you know what reviews to look forward to.  Let me know in the comments below if you like that idea.

No matter what: keep reading, keep dreaming, and always try to do what you love.
